saturn petfood passes IFS and BRC audits on a high level

Bremen, in February 2013. On the 13th of February, saturn petfood, a companyof the heristo group, successfully passed the audits in accordance with the IFS(International Food Standard) and BRC (British Retail Consortium) criteria.

The successful audit was confirmed by DQS GmbH, for both areas of validity, with the re-certification on a high level.

For the first time ever, saturn petcare had to prove that the company complies with the requirements in accordance with version 6. These alterations refer, among others, to the protection of the food supply chain against intentional contamination and manipulation. The topic of "Food Defense” was first raised in the USA, where experts elaborated leading evaluation criteria that now also apply with us. As of Version 6, the certified company must comply with precisely defined parameters for protecting its production against intentional impairments. The screening criteria comprise comprehensive safety assessments, aspects of site safety, in addition to measures for personnel and visitors of the company, as well as external controls. “With its preventative measures to secure product safety, saturn petfood is well-positioned for the future,” confirms Waltraud Böhm, the head of quality management.
